About ZARDD

Faith in action for a fairer, healthier and more resilient society.

We coordinate the Catholic Diocese of Zomba’s social development mission, turning shared values and local knowledge into lasting change.

Our background

A trusted development partner in the Diocese of Zomba.

Zomba Diocese Research and Development Department (ZARDD) was established as the social development arm of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. It brings the Diocese’s development, humanitarian, health, education, justice, peace and research initiatives under one coordinated structure.

Through four specialist commissions, ZARDD responds to the interrelated challenges faced by disadvantaged households—especially women, children, young people, persons with disabilities, smallholder farmers and communities affected by poverty and climate-related disasters.

Our work connects practical service delivery with research, advocacy, monitoring and capacity building so that communities can shape and sustain their own development.

What guides us

Values lived through every partnership.

01

Human dignity

Every person has inherent worth and deserves the opportunity to thrive.

02

Participation

Communities are partners and leaders, not passive recipients of support.

03

Inclusion

We intentionally reach people who face barriers, exclusion and inequality.

04

Accountability

We steward resources responsibly and remain answerable to communities.

05

Evidence

Learning, research and monitoring strengthen decisions and results.

06

Stewardship

We care for creation and pursue development that can endure.

Our approach

Strong institutions. Local ownership. Sustainable results.

We strengthen existing community structures instead of building parallel systems. This keeps knowledge, leadership and accountability close to the people whose lives are affected.
