The Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM), Zomba Diocese, is the relief and development arm of the Catholic Church. Its mission is to empower disadvantaged men, women, and youth to undertake development that is integral, gender-sensitive, environmentally sustainable, and promotes justice, human dignity, and self-reliance through active participation.

With funding from Irish Aid through Trocaire Malawi, Zomba CADECOM is implementing the Irish Aid Civil Society Programme (ICSP) in Machinga District, Traditional Authority (TA) Chamba and Mposa. The project aims to ensure that poor and marginalized people, especially women and youth, achieve sustainable livelihoods, diverse food sources, and economic well-being.

The Diocese of Zomba invites applications for the position of Field Officer.

Number of positions: Two (2)

Reporting to: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Officer (MEAL)

Employment period: 5 months, renewable based on funding and performance

Duty station: Zomba District

A. Key Responsibilities
Implement sustainable agriculture, livelihoods, natural resource management, and disaster risk management interventions.

Facilitate project activities in line with approved budgets.

Distribute materials such as construction supplies, lead farmer equipment, and beekeeping tools.

Act as a conduit for information sharing between stakeholders and program management.

Provide assistance, networking, capacity building, and training for community groups.

Represent the project at district and community forums.

Document best practices and case studies.

Develop weekly and monthly work plans and reports.

Support resource development and translation of materials.

Collect data and report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.

Sensitize participants on safeguarding and protection policies.

Strengthen complaints and grievance redress mechanisms.

B. Job Requirements
Academic Qualifications:

Diploma in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Agricultural Extension, or Environmental Sciences.

Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.

Work Experience:

Minimum of five years in agroecology, community-based natural resource management, disaster risk management, women’s economic empowerment, climate change, or environmental justice.

Valid motorcycle driver’s license.

Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, virtual meetings).

Experience with data collection tools (KOBO, ODK, Survey CTO, ComCareW, mWater).

Other Attributes:

Self-starter, team player, deadline-oriented, flexible.
